The Independent Visitor (IV) Scheme provides volunteer befrienders for children and young people in care.
IVs are independent from Children’s Social Care and offer a consistent, trusted adult relationship.
Young people and their IV can choose activities together, such as:
Going for a walk
Coffee and a chat
Cinema trips
Football or other hobbies
Trying new activities

Young people should speak to their social worker or foster carer if they want to be matched with an Independent Visitor.
This service is not specific to SEN but would try to make adaptations.
